Life Jacket & Inflatable Safety Equipment Service 

Instructions for Care of Your Life Jacket

Rinse the jacket in fresh water after each use. Hand wash in soapy water if soiled to remove any oil or dirt. Drip dry away from direct heat. DO NOT tumble dry. Store in dry airy conditions

Service

Yearly inspection/servicing is suggested for all inflatable life jackets, dan buoys and rescue slings.

The steps involved in inspecting and servicing a life jacket; either an inflatable or a buoyant foam type (or an inflatable danbuoy or rescue sling) are comprehensive and contained within approved life jacket and safety equipment service manuals. A detailed checklist guides all tasks performed by qualified technicians, who will:

  • Perform an external life jacket examination, including:
    • Outer cover & attachments – front & rear
    • Zip fastenings
    • Hook & loop fastenings
    • Buckles
    • Webbing straps
    • Retro-reflective panels
    • Stowage pockets
    • Signalling whistle
    • Locator light
    • Integrated Harness


  • Examine the unpacked inflatable life jacket, including:
    • Buoyancy bladder inspection
    • Perform super pressure test and log results
    • Perform working pressure test


  • Examine the Inflation system, including:
    • Operating head: make & model, manual or auto, activation toggle, impacting pin and spring, seat and seal O rings, arming/indicator clip
    • Inflation cylinder: note serial number, expiry date, specified weight and actual weight,
    • Oral inflation tube, valve and cap


  • Repack the life jacket, ready for service and issue a new service certificate

Life Jacket Service charges

Great Circle life jacket service is based on attention to detail and best practise procedures. Parts and equipment that are replaced due to expiration or failure during testing are an additional charge. Our priority at all times is to provide life jacket service as quickly and cost efficiently as possible to your satisfaction.
Yearly inspection/servicing is suggested for all life jackets.

Immersion Suit Service

The steps involved in inspecting and servicing an immersion suit are comprehensive and contained within approved immersion suit service manuals. With the aid of specialised immersion suit test equipment, a detailed checklist guides all tasks performed by qualified technicians, who will:

  • Perform an immersion suite examination, including:
    • Outer cover & attachments – front & rear
    • Thermal insulation
    • In-built buoyancy pillow (if fitted)
    • Zip fastenings
    • Hook & loop fastenings
    • Buckles
    • Webbing straps
    • Retro-reflective panels
    • Rubber soles
    • Stowage pockets
    • Signalling whistle
    • Locator light
    • Integrated Harness
  • Examine the unpacked and pressure sealed immersion suit, including:
    • Perform pressure test and log results 
    • Undertake leak or other repairs as required
  • Repack the immersion suit ready for ongoing service and issue a new service certificate
